Sagebrush Restoration

This site sits at the very northern edge of the Sonoran desert- the ecotone where giant Antelope sagebrush and open stands of Ponderosa pine transition to dense Douglas-Fir forests.  It is abundant with wildlife and critters of all kinds, ornamented with wildflowers. The site is small (>1 acre), but is a critical link in a habitat corridor that runs between larger protected grassland areas.  Three grade seven classes, their teachers, a talented team of restoration ecologists, biologists, and many others, are all helping to bring this land back to life.
